The Telluride area typically sees 300 inches of snow annually. That magnificent winter wonderland is why so many skiers and snowboarders are itching for November to roll around at Telluride Ski Resort.
The 2019/2020 ski season kicks off with Donation Day on Nov. 27. This is a skier’s dream day to get a jump on the season with only a $25 donation to the Telluride’s Ski & Snowboard Club before the resort officially opens on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28. Closing Day is set for Sunday, April 5, 2020.
With more than 2,000 acres and 127 unique trails, Telluride Ski Resort made a conscious effort to provide terrain for every ability and level.
For beginners, the terrain is not intimidating. Nearly 60 percent of the Resort’s terrain is dedicated to beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders.
Those who want to build on their skills may want to try Ute Park, which caters to families with 25 beginner and 25 intermediate trails. “It is truly some of the coolest and most creative terrain-based learning you will find,” said one skier on Trip Advisor. Read more about Telluride terrain parks.
And for the advanced skiers and boarders, the heart-pounding thrill of Black Iron Bowl is just a short hike out to Prospect Ridge, before dropping 1,000 vertical feet down fresh tracks.
