Added: Jul 09, 2019
Category: Explore Colorado

Good news for travelers who want to get to their favorite place in the world faster: For the first time in its history, the Telluride Regional Airport (TEX) will offer commercial flights into Telluride.

Starting May 15, Denver Air Connection's relationship with United Airlines will launch daily flights from Denver, allowing residents and visitors a comfortable ride on a 30-seat Dornier 328JET and landing only five miles west of Telluride's business district (or 10 minutes away from the village and slopes.)

Although TEX has long provided commercial turboprop service, the Denver flights will be the first operated on a jet. Currently, the only way to get to Telluride is through the two closest airports, TEX and the Montrose Re...

The first gold mining claim was made in the mountains above Telluride in 1875, and not long after, what was once christened the town of Columbia eventually got renamed Telluride, as miners and their families settled in a number of camps in the western San Juan mountains and along the San Miguel River. After the gold mining started to become scarce, the silver crash of 1893 ...

There’s Nothing Like Fourth of July in Telluride

Added: Jul 09, 2019
Category: Explore Colorado

If a small town Fourth of July celebration is your speed this summer, there's no better place to experience it than Telluride with an old-fashioned parade down Main Street, a Fireman's barbeque, free events and activities for kids, and timeless traditions. Here are some of the best events to catch on Independence Day.

Heart-Pumping Rundola

Starting off at 8 a.m., The Rundola is an open-registration uphill foot race that parallels the gondola. Runners of all ages start at the base of the gondola, and then either run, walk, or just bushwhack to the top of the ridge on the Telluride Trail, gaining an elevation of 1,810 feet. The Telluride Foundation hosts the race, and proceeds ensure support goes back in...
