Planning Your Telluride Vacation

Considering a trip to Telluride this winter or spring? Travelers to this corner of Colorado will tell you it’s a bit of an effort to get there—but the experience of visiting this charming small town cannot be overstated. From the majestic views and the ease of getting around to the nearly nonexistent lift lines and the sheer beauty everywhere you go—it makes the entire journey worth it.

How To Get Here
As we outline in our blog Now It’s Even Easier To Fly To Telluride, there are four ways to get to Telluride in style, along with the ease of airport transfer service such as Telluride Express or Mountain Limo.

Where To Stay
The first step is to check out what SilverStar Telluride has to offer. Whether you’re traveling as a couple, with friends, or with family, our vacation rentals and ultra-luxe and roomy condos and penthouses are your home away from home. From our Mountain Village units, the famous trails of the Telluride Ski Resort and the Gondola are accessed within minutes. And our vacation homes in the town of Telluride are conveniently located to bars, restaurants and shops as well as to the local supermarket, where you’re able to easily get all the provisions you need for your stay. For families, our well-appointed and full-size kitchens, top-of-the-line appliances and laundry rooms allow you the ease and convenience of home without having to leave the property.

One call to our helpful staff (who will factor in the size of your party, your purpose for visiting and your individual needs) and you’ll have concierge-level service.

Getting Around
One of the elements of Telluride consistently lauded by travelers is that there’s really no need for a vehicle to get around. Thanks to the careful planning of its founders and city planners, everything in town is easily walkable. In addition, the Galloping Goose Shuttle system, a free service, is on a constant loop, transporting you with ease around town and to Mountain Village.  To get up and down the mountain, the free Gondola runs from 7 a.m. to midnight. And lastly, the Dial-A-Ride system, a free, on-call shuttle operated by the Telluride Ski Resort, is only a phone call away (970-728-8888) where a driver will pick you up and take you where you want to go.

What To Do
February and March are some of the best skiing and outdoor adventure months with the average temperature hovering around high 30s/lower 40s with abundant sunshine. Besides world-class skiing, heli-skiing and snowboarding, here are five additional things to do outside in Telluride this winter.

Culturally, February’s highlights include the Telluride Comedy Festival (Feb. 13-16) and the Telluride AIDS Benefit with Fashion Gala (Feb. 27).

With nearly 60 restaurants and bars dotted throughout the 12-block town and Mountain Village, there are plenty of places for après, happy hour, a quick snack, coffee or beer and gourmet dining.
